Soft yellow hide, hooves,
Bessie wouldn’t last an hour
in Iowa’s sun.
Haiku Heights is hosting The September Heights, a haiku-a-day challenge with a daily word prompt to be used as a theme and/or in the haiku. Day 19′s prompt is “butter.” Click through to check out more haiku or to add your own.
Now, as an Iowa girl, I couldn’t help but write about the butter cow at the Iowa State Fair. Nope, not kidding. (Image courtesy of Iowa State Fair Image Library.)

I admire the sculptors who are able to create buttery works!
And it’s not just butter cows–there have been a butter Elvis and a butter Harley-Davidson among other things!!
Thank you for this great haiku!
Well, I am not sure it is great, but you are quite welcome (as one would say when passing the butter). 🙂
nice buttery haiku…
Thanks! I was actually getting hungry when I read all the different butter haiku this morning! 🙂
Let’s just say, there is always a line to see the butter sculptures…!
